We’ve built a wonderful spaceship. Now we’re inviting you to help us generate the fuel that will get it off the ground and soaring.
The HSP Resource Team is a group of volunteers contributing their time, expertise, connections, and strategic advice to create a sustainable resource engine to support the HSP mission.
This page is designed to be a “tool box” for volunteers to help secure resources such as funding, in-kind donations, sponsorships, brand partnerships, and other means of supporting the HSP mission.
Below, you will find information about how we got to this point, what resources are most needed, and the most effective ways you can support this mission.
Feel free to skip around and just get what you need. We tried to cover all the bases so you have all the tools at your fingertips. We also invite you to explore the rest of the website for more information, or get in touch with us. Thank you!

Introduction
We know we’re stronger together. Rather than simply relying on a few of us to figure this out, we’re turning to our most valued brain-trust; our vast network of supporters, volunteers, and members of the Overview Round Table community.
We welcome your creative ideas, connections, introductions, advice, and any other way you might want to participate in fueling this mission.
Foundation Building
The Human Space Program concept has been growing and evolving since 1987 when Frank first mentioned it in The Overview Effect: Space Migration and Human Evolution. In 2019 we began assembling the framework for an official nonprofit organization, made up solely of volunteers.
We created the Overview Round Table weekly zoom gathering for our space community and developed events and proto-task-force reports and much more. We’re so grateful for the generous network of volunteers and supporters that have made all of this possible.
In her book, Back to Earth: What Life in Space Taught Me About Our Home Planet―And Our Mission to Protect It, Former NASA Astronaut, Nicole Stott talks about the “slow is fast” practice in the astronaut community.
The stakes are high and every move matters. No one can afford to rush things or skip over details. Everything has to be done thoughtfully, patiently, and with great attention to the long term implications of each decision.
We’ve developed a strong foundation that will serve this mission for the long haul. We’re building our platform on Web3 technology to ensure inclusivity, optimize efficiency, and create a solid foundation we can depend on.
In April of 2022, The Human Space Program was born from a community of passionate humans that have all been inspired by Frank’s work and the phenomenon of the Overview Effect. It is part of our language, woven into the fabric of our lives.

Resource Strategy
The Human Space Program is a registered US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Gifts are made through the Space for Humanity payment gateway and passed on to the Human Space Program pro bono, as a way of supporting our mission. (Thank you S4H!) All donors will receive a tax deduction receipt for their donation.
We have only recently received (July 2022) our 501(c)(3) status, which makes us less attractive for grants (though we are still working on those).
Currently, our best strategy is to cultivate a group of “founding donors” that can help us cover the cost of operations and some foundational projects (Blueprint platform development, Simulations, Task Force Development, etc.) through 2022.
Most Effective Way to Support HSP
We talk about the power of the Overview Effect and our interconnectedness constantly. It’s part of our language, and who we are. This is an opportunity for the HSP community to show what a devoted, united group of passionate people can do when they join forces to support a common goal.
HSP is a central project where you are a co-author. You are part of this program. We invite you to join us in collaboration as we imagineer the most effective ways to generate the resources to support this mission.

Overview Perspective
We’ve done a lot with very little for a long time. Imagine what we can do with the resources that allow us to focus our attention and create the momentum.

Ideal Donor Profiles
These profiles represent donors who are most likely to care about our mission and have the means to play a significant role in supporting it.
We are not just looking for donors, we are looking for partners. People who truly believe HSP matters and they want to play a role in ensuring its success.

Our Unique Value
When speaking with potential donors, of any kind, we need to be clear and concise about the value and importance of their gifts.
High level donors are what we need most right now. Most often, they are short on time.
They want to contribute to an organization in alignment with their own philanthropic goals. We need to connect the dots for them.
We need to help potential donors feel secure and excited about donating to HSP. They need to feel like it’s an investment that is really going to work. If it doesn’t feel that way to them, they will go elsewhere.
The elements listed below are what we call “value points”. They are meant to give a donor the feeling that this is both monumental and possible through our approach, process, and the humans behind it.

Key Messaging
This is a list of some of our most important and effective messaging. When speaking about HSP, these are some great tools for captivating and compelling someone new to who we are.
- Slogan - Sustainable, ethical, and inclusive stewardship of the solar ecosystem.
- Mantra - A central project to develop a citizen-authored blueprint for conscious space migration and stewardship of the solar ecosystem.
- This is an opportunity for us to support each other in writing a new story for humanity. A chance to choose stewardship and unity over conquering and dividing.
- As we plan our migration off the planet, perhaps we will learn more about healing our relationship with it.
- We are the environmentalists and social activists of the space migration movement, committed to living as stewards rather than conquerors.
- As we worked on that central project together, we might learn a lot about how to cultivate a more harmonious relationship with our natural environment, and maybe even each other.
- Maybe going out there is part of how we heal what’s right here. Our journey off the planet isn't about escaping or abandoning Earth. It's about truly knowing it for the first time and becoming stewards of our solar ecosystem.
- A thousand-year project with you as the author.
- Now, everyone gets a vote in how we migrate and explore. This time we get to use our voices to create the future we want.
- What if migrating outwards is our chance to look inwards?
- Join us in co-authoring the Blueprint for Conscious Space Migration. This time, we get to design the future we want.
- This blueprint is uniquely valuable because of its inclusive design, altruistic objectives, and ability to evolve more naturally alongside the humans it is meant to inspire.
- The Inclusion Council is working together to foster a culture that celebrates our uniqueness and prioritizes our unity and vitality.
- We are committed to holding ourselves accountable in our own behavior and to promoting inclusivity through all of our efforts as an organization, not just for our future, but for today.
